i love dawson's creek and feel no shame about it.

So LJ is still acting up so I decided to just do this here and hope for the best with crossposting.

[personal profile] blue_icy_rose, you are my favorite because we share ALL the fandoms!

Chris Halliwell (Charmed)

a) Two head canon facts

- Chris remembers everything - everything - from a very young age. He doesn't tell his parents until he's in his twenties though, because he knows it will worry them unnecessarily, and also because it will get in the way of his plans. He suspects that Paige knows however; after all, he's always been suspiciously good at things like scrying, potion-making and renting a hotel room under a fake name, and she's no dope.

- When he went back to the day that Paige died, it wasn't his first attempt at time travel. They'd tried twice before - Bianca went back to the day Prue died but failed to stop it from happening, and they both went back to the day of Piper's death and failed again. It was somewhat fitting then, that Chris succeeded on the third try with Paige, and on his own. He feels immensely guilty for getting Bianca involved at all - he should've known that Wyatt would find out and know just what buttons to push to bully her into doing what he wanted. That's why he wasn't angry at her betrayal - because it really wasn't a betrayal at all, when it came down to it. Not that his family will ever understand that.

b) Their favorite type of music

He doesn't really listen to music. Like, at all. He's just not interested in it, he never has been. Wyatt was the one who practically lived at P3 growing up, Chris was always more interested in magic and studying. It was something that Wyatt first used against him and then, the second time around, teased him about. Chris hated the former but absolutely relished the latter.

c) One story from their school days

Wyatt made his big move when Chris was fifteen, so there really wasn't much time for school after that. He was tutored by Phoebe for a few years until she ran out of time and energy for it, and after that his attention was solely focused on learning everything he could to stay alive. Things like algebra and US history kind of fell by the wayside. In the new timeline, he went to magic school for years and excelled at it, while Wyatt chose to go to normal public school, caught up in his ambitions to be a doctor. That was how he found Bianca again, through the scrying orb that the school used to locate magical children. He got grounded for a month and Paige was especially furious with him for breaking into her office and refusing to tell her why, but it was so very beyond worth it, the first time he knocked on Bianca's door and saw her face, alive and healthy and happy.

d) One character that I will forever ship with them

Bianca. Okay, this the only ship that even exists for him, but their story was so tragic and wonderful and brilliant that I was hooked (after one episode which is really saying something, for Charmed). It was kind of a shitty show, with shitty writing, but that episode - and Chris's entire season - fucking rocked. There were so many possibilities and the symmetry of it was so awesome (Phoebe and Cole and Bianca and Chris, COME ON!) and I loved how they kind of flipped our expectations around and threw them in our faces. If I had been more committed to writing at the time when I was really into Charmed, I would've written some epic, epic fic for those two. I started one, and I had this really long elaborate plot line where Bianca was actually Cole's daughter (FUCK YOU, IT KIND OF MAKES SENSE. KIND OF. MAYBE) and Cole was brought back to life by Chris in the future to help him fight Wyatt and all this cool stuff but then I went to college and gave up on it.

e) One character that other people ship with them that I will never be able to agree

Haha, well, there weren't a lot of Chris ships. I remember there was a bunch of Chris/OFC stories, which were kind of precious because they were all these kind of adorable self-insertion type things. But most fic about Chris tended to focus on how mistreated he was by Piper and/or Leo, with not much depth to it. Come to think of it, I never really found any Charmed fic with a whole lot of depth. Then again, I was in high school and not fully on LJ yet, so maybe I was missing it.

f) One thing that makes the way I write said character differently from the way other people do

I haven't written him much, but I always tended to focus on his bad ass tendencies more than anyone else. Because you guys, he is a total fucking bad ass. He fought a freaking war against his brother! He led a rebellion! His fiance is a demon assassin! He went back in time and turned his brother good again! All while lying to his family and enduring their suspicion and scorn! He was even willing to kill Wyatt to prevent the future from happening, which IMO is probably the bravest thing he ever did. Not a lot of people probably agree with me on that one, though.

Most stories I read back in the day though, Chris was just this poor abused kid who was forever silently bearing his parents' mistreatment, which I thought was total bullshit. Chis did not silently bear anything, which anyone who actually watched the show knew. He bitched and nagged and manipulated and did everything he could to get the sisters to listen to him, which is what he should've done, cuz you know, he was trying to prevent an apocalyptic war and all. The only time he got caught up in his family drama was after they found out who he really was, which in my opinion was the point in the season when the writing was the weakest.

But come on, do you remember the episode with Jenny McCarthy? Where the three demonic sisters swapped places with Phoebe, Paige and Piper and took over their lives? Dudes. Chris figured it out, and seduced the one pretending to be Phoebe in order to tear the sisters apart. When you take into account that he was a) under a spell that made him think they were the Charmed Ones and b) Phoebe is his AUNT, that is some motherfucking stone cold, bad ass shit. Yeah. What if he'd been wrong?!

g) One story that I would really like to see them in that I'm not going to write for various reasons.

I'd just like to find a future fic where Chris is awesome, and Bianca is awesome, and Billie doesn't exist (because wow. Horrible character. Horrible season. Just, really. Really, really bad). And you know, just one where the characters are real people. You know, Wyatt is fully developed and not just Mr. Angelic, and Leo and Piper are nuanced and not reduced to parenting cliches, and Paige and Phoebe act a little more like human beings and not huge bitches.

I've always liked the symmetry of Phoebe/Cole and Chris/Bianca too, like I talked about above, so I would loooove to read the story where Cole comes back to life and he and Chris totally hit it off and Phoebe and Piper are horrified.

Oh, and also the one where Chris really is forced to kill Wyatt as his last resort. And think of what would happen when Piper and Leo realize that their second son was the neurotic Whitelighter that murdered their first. How gloriously fucked up would that be?

Sharpay Evans (High School Musical)

a) Two head canon facts

- Sharpay is a feminist. A serious one. She reads all the blogs and keeps up on all the news constantly on her Blackberry (pink, rhinestoned, state of the art) and when she was twelve she convinced her father to donate a bunch of money to help open a women's shelter in downtown Albuquerque. When she inherits her trust fund at age 21, she has a list of charities/organizations she wants to give to. Her life plan has always been 1) become a huge Broadway star, 2) meet the love of her life, and 3) start her own scholarship fund for the arts with a specific focus on women who couldn't otherwise afford to attend college.

Nobody knows this about her. It's totally not her fault that nobody ever asks her opinion on anything serious.

- She's bisexual. She doesn't figure this out until college but on her first day of her first drama class, she walks in and trips over the accompanist's bag, and it's basically love at first sight. Her name is Ingrid, she's a piano performance major, she's half Puerto Rican and half French Canadian, and she color coordinates beautifully. They break up because Sharpay is terrified to tell her family, but they stay friends and Ingrid is the maid of honor at Sharpay's wedding.

(This may be total self-indulgent wishful thinking but I DO NOT CARE.)

b) Their favorite type of music

Well, show tunes, of course. Rachel Berry is a poor man's Sharpay, thank you very much, and she doesn't keep any soundtrack in her car that did not win at least three Tonys.

c) One story from their school days

She and Ryan made an art form out of secret missions. They could do anything with a little planning time, a couple walkie talkies, properly coordinated outfits and good old fashioned determination. Their greatest accomplishment was The Case of the Jackass, aka their ninth grade English teacher who spent the first three months of the school year humiliating Ryan in class. Sharpay snapped sometime in early December and by January thirteenth, he was fired, disgraced, and on his way back to Akron to move back in with his parents. Sharpay is still proud of that one. Nobody messes with Ryan.

d) One character that I will forever ship with them

Lol, I don't know, Troy? I don't really like Troy, but I like the idea of Troy - or I suppose I like the idea of Sharpay sticking it to Gabriella and the rest of the characters I was supposed to sympathize with and like.

e) One character that other people ship with them that I will never be able to agree

ALL OF THEM. Sharpay transcends her own fandom. She deserves someone so much more awesome than any of those losers.

f) One thing that makes the way I write said character differently from the way other people do

I've never written her. Well - other than drabbles. But I do love her so much more than like, 99% of people in the fandom. Even the Sharpay fans, who shipped her with Troy or Zeke or whoever, didn't seem to like her much, because they would usually change everything about her that made her awesome. Sharpay's not nice! If I wanted nice I'd be in love with Gabriella! Gag.

g) One story that I would really like to see them in that I'm not going to write for various reasons.

Maybe the one where she goes to college and falls in love with Ingrid the piano performance major.

Jackie Burkhardt (That 70's Show)

a) Two head canon facts

- Jackie plays the drums! This is possibly from a fic I read once, but I don't care. She totally plays the drums like a freaking boss, and anyone who hears her do it starts falling all over themselves to get her to join their band, but she refuses because she's embarrassed. Drumming is for sweaty people.

- She had a huge crush on Eric when she was little. That's why she always made fun of him so much - okay, possibly she was overcompensating. She did get over it pretty quickly once she started dating Michael, but later when they were older she'd run into him when she was home for Christmas and always had to exert some willpower. Well, the teacher thing is kind of hot.

b) Their favorite type of music

She loves disco and pop music, of course, and Steven even managed to get her into some of his greasy rock bands. Only a couple, though. In the 80's she worshiped Madonna and sobbed her heart out when John Lennon was murdered. She's been to see Prince maybe twenty times, and every single time she walks away more turned on than she's ever been in her entire life.

c) One story from their school days

She took Donna to a spa for her fifteenth birthday. Jackie spent her own money on the weekend and scheduled everything that Donna so desperately needed, a full body wrap and a massage and facial and deep cleansing bath and everything, and even arranged for a full birthday dinner for Donna with all her favorites. But all Donna did was bitch about everything all weekend, annoyed by everything and anything, resentful that Jackie was rich and she wasn't, and uncomfortable by all the attention on her body. Jackie's feelings were so hurt that she never did anything nice for Donna again for a long time, probably up until paying for her engagement ring like five years later.

d) One character that I will forever ship with them

Eric, I guess. Mostly because he's the only one that didn't totally fuck her over on the show.

e) One character that other people ship with them that I will never be able to agree

Hyde. I mean, I do ship them, I guess, but like I said when I did Hyde for this meme, there's no way they were ever going to have a happy ending.

f) One thing that makes the way I write said character differently from the way other people do

I make her more practical, smarter. Because you know, she is. And people tend to overlook that because she's shallow and bitchy. Which I don't necessarily think are bad traits, which I admit puts me in the minority.

Anyway, I'd much rather be the shallow, bitchy, loud girl who doesn't take any shit than the nice, quiet doormat who gets walked on all the time.

g) One story that I would really like to see them in that I'm not going to write for various reasons.

The one where Jackie moves away and starts her own life and finally gets a fair deal, for once? Yeah. I want to read that one.

Pacey Witter (Dawson's Creek)

a) Two head canon facts

- The reason he originally liked Andie is because she reminded him of Joey a little bit. Which he will never tell either of them, ever, because it is possibly the most cold-hearted thing he's ever done to both of them.

- He has a lot of unresolved anger at his friends, especially Dawson, for never noticing how bad it really was for him at home. He understands why Joey never noticed, she had her own problems and besides, he loves her and can forgive an awful lot. But Dawson, who never thought it was weird how often Pacey spent the night on his porch or how many sarcastic-but-actually-true jokes he made about his old man or the nasty undertone to Doug's taunts when they were younger - that all hurts. A lot. And the fact that Dawson is always the first one to believe the worst of him - that hurts even more. All things considered, as much as Pacey loves the guy, he also recognizes that Dawson just doesn't have nearly as much invested in their friendship as Pacey does. He was Pacey's best friend, but Pacey sure as hell wasn't Dawson's - that honor was reserved for Joey and Joey alone. It took him a long time to realize the true nature of their fucked up little triangle, and years later, it still sucks.

b) Their favorite type of music

He sticks to classic rock, mostly. He enjoys music simply as background noise for the most part, and so anything with a good beat is usually fine. When he's sailing, especially on long trips, he'll keep the radio on constantly as a reminder of the outside world, so anything goes then. Even talk radio.

c) One story from their school days

He met Joey when they were six or seven, because everybody in Capeside loved Mrs. Potter and Pacey's dad was all about buddying up to all the influential people back then, before he started drinking. So he and Joey were always at all the same events and parties and stuff, and some of the fondest memories of his childhood are having slap fights with her underneath the dinner table, wrestling on the floor in front of everybody in their nice Sunday church clothes, bickering in whispers while some old windbag droned on and on about local economy and the benefits of community.

One thing he regrets is never talking to Joey about her mom when they were younger, especially that awful summer after she died. Joey changed after that, she and Bessie both wore their grief around their necks like collars. Pacey avoided them like the rest of the town did, because it hurt to look at it, and maybe if hadn't done that, things would've turned out differently.

He has a picture of them though, one that he stole from Bessie one Christmas, Joey and her mom at some potluck dinner. Joey's about nine or ten maybe, and she's got her church dress on, the only vaguely-skirt-resembling article of clothing she owned. She's got dirt on her face and her hair is a tangled bird's nest, and Mrs. Potter is frowning, trying to tie some kind of sash around Joey's waist. It's Pacey's favorite picture of Joey, and every time he looks at it he thinks, man, I never even had a chance.

d) One character that I will forever ship with them

Joey. Come oooooon.

e) One character that other people ship with them that I will never be able to agree

I don't know, I was pretty committed to my OTP, so I pretty much just kept to the old Pages of True Love boards and that was about it. I didn't like Audrey hardly at all though, that was probably my least favorite non-Joey ship. Dating your ex's roommate, dude? Really?

f) One thing that makes the way I write said character differently from the way other people do

Haha, I never wrote him, I was way too young. And there seemed to be this fandom-wide agreement that he was The Awesomest Ever, and Could Do No Wrong, which I was pretty cool with because he is basically my imaginary boyfriend.

g) One story that I would really like to see them in that I'm not going to write for various reasons.

There were so many stories that I loved that I never felt like there was anything missing. I am pretty damn bummed that the True Love boards crashed and we lost all of those stories though. And I am forever on the lookout for my old favorites, the ones that I can't remember the authors for. Like The Beginning of the End, which was this amazing season three AU where Pacey never confessed his feelings for Joey and she got back together with Dawson instead, and so after they graduate she and Pacey deal with all their unresolved shit and it follows them into college and it's literally perfect. I CAN'T FIND IT ANYWHERE.

Also there was this one co-written by...Kel, I think? And someone else? Called Cheated, which was an AU where Andie and Dawson cheated on Pacey and Joey, and so Pacey and Joey obviously have a bunch of sex as revenge. And there was one called Friends with Benefits or something like that, where they got together in season one. And this one author and I can't remember her name, but she had this one story called Can't Get Enough which went AU after Pacey finds out about Andie's affair, and it was amazing.

Man, I miss Dawson's Creek fic. There was something really thoughtful and sweet about all of it. And hot.

The meme!

Give me a character and I will give you:

Random: my brother is watching The Sandlot and I am remembering why I hated all those little boy movies so, so, so much. Ugh, no thanks.
