General likes: role reversals, canon divergent AUs, trope inversion/subversion, pining! fluff and angst! relationship development over plot, rom com tropes (pining, miscommunication, etc).
Dislikes: ABO, porn without any feelings or plot at all, normal-life AUs (in a coffee shop, college, etc). I'm pretty easygoing - if you're having fun then I'm having fun, and if somebody talks about their feelings and has an emotional breakthrough at some point, then I'm probably gonna like it.
Below is basically what I put in my sign up form with some added rambling (just for kicks). My blanket caveat is that I'm fine with gen, if you ended up matched to me for a pairing you don't ship - and of course I'm always down for worldbuilding.
My AO3 name is now saltyavocado. You can find me at thesaltyavocado on tumblr if you wanna lurk a little. Have fun!
The Rain (TV 2018)
Simone Andersen & Martin
Apocalypse ship! I love it. Don't tell my mom but I really want porn for these two, so if you're so inclined please go wild. No out of the box kinks tho please (no ABO, bodily-fluid related stuff, etc.).
If porn isn't your thing, I dig their dynamic, I dig stories where two people have to negotiate differing ideas of morality in order to survive and lead, I dig people grabbing happiness where they can because their world is very difficult and terrifying. Established relationship would be great, picking up from any point in canon would be fine (I haven't finished the show yet but spoilers are fine), something fluffy or angsty, or whatever you'd like to do.
What about an AU where they met pre-Rain? Or post-series fic about whatever kind of life they manage to cobble together afterwards. What I like about them especially is that Simone is able to see past Martin's defense mechanisms so easily - it'd be interesting to see them fight, maybe. How a serious argument would play out between them, and what would be so serious that it would really drive a serious wedge? I don't think it'd be a moral argument - since they seem to be on the same page most of the time - but more a practical one. Whatever you do - have fun!
The Goldfinch - Donna Tartt
Boris & Theo
This book knocked me out cold on like twelve different occasions. One of the most romantic stories I've ever read, which I mean wholeheartedly! Please write me something sad and painful and sexy about Boris and Theo. You can make it explicitly romantic if you want, or not, although if you choose not to acknowledge the subtext between them please don't go overboard in your narrative about "they're not gay" because that would really bother me, thank you.
Since we're so closely tied to Theo's life, I would love to see something of Boris' - perhaps during their separation (pining! oh my!) or even when they were together, either as kids or later on as adults. His approach to life is very appealing at the same time that it's a little horrifying, and I'd be interested to see your take on his internal narrative.
Do you see Boris' theft of the painting as a betrayal? (Because I don't. Depriving him of an obsession and getting rid of the risk? Was he trying to protect Theo in his own way? I think so!!) And Boris' admiration of Theo's father was always a really interesting aspect of their relationship to me - how Boris was able to understand and really see Larry in a way Theo wasn't. And, of course, there's always the AU idea where Boris goes with Theo to New York when he runs away - where they'd end up, if they'd have stayed in touch, if it would've been an healthier or unhealthier path for both or either of them - interesting to think about!! Go for it if you want!!
Yesterday (2019)
Jack Malik
I really enjoyed this movie a lot, but its reliance on Beatles nostalgia held it back bigtime. The fact that Jack was essentially knocked into an alternate universe, in which lots of things were different (and not just in terms of which bands made it big and which didn't!!) was the most interesting part of the story that they didn't even really spend much time on.
If you wanna go dark I'd like to see something about maybe, Jack discovering that someone he knows had died in this alt universe that hadn't in his original one (wasn't the fake John Lennon cameo sorta creepy af in that sense???). Or a switcheroo, about the original universe, with the Jack that never knew who the Beatles were - adjusting in a different way? What would be his reaction to it all?
He and Ellie were very cute, and I really dig ships that are based on friendship, so feel free to include as much of her as you like. I would also really enjoy something simple and romantic about their life together - maybe Jack has to explain the whole thing, maybe Ellie doesn't believe him at first? (Also isn't it kind of wild to think about what happened to the original Ellie?? Is Jack's original universe still going along without him???)
